Discipleship Framework

How it works

A group of four to six people works best for this process. Fewer than that may leave gaps in your roadmap, while more can lead to drawn-out discussions.

Who should those four to six people be? That’s up to you, but here are three guiding questions:

Who represents your congregation?
Aim for diversity in age, gender, and background to reflect the full range of your church community.
Do we have both staff and non-staff?
Including key volunteers can provide unique insights beyond the church staff perspective.
Who are the catalysts and potential roadblocks?
Catalysts embrace change and drive progress. Roadblocks may need convincing but can ultimately strengthen the process and become advocates.

Prayerfully consider your options, extend invitations, and when your team is ready, let’s begin!

Foundations

Answering the Question:
Do we have an intentional plan for making disciples?
Who’s It For?
Church leaders and advisory team members.
What’s the Problem?
Most discipleship resources jump straight into what to do without helping us rethink how we approach discipleship.
What’s the Solution?
Before we focus on doing discipleship, we need to rethink how we understand growth. This course helps you build a strong foundation by reflecting on change theory, what Jesus taught about spiritual growth, and how true transformation starts from the inside out—not the outside in.
Suggested Time Frame:
1 month—or binge it all in a day if you prefer!

Discipleship Framework

Answering the Question:
Is our discipleship plan actually working?
Who’s It For?
Church leaders and advisory team members
What’s the Problem?
Churches often jump straight into small group methods without first defining a clear discipleship goal. As a result, they don’t know if they’re truly heading in the right direction.
What’s the Solution?
This course guides you through building a two-page Discipleship Framework Roadmap. By clarifying the desired outcomes, you’ll align staff and leaders around a solid, sustainable plan—one that shows you whether or not your approach is effective.
Suggested Time Frame:

Leader Development & Leader Support

Answering the Question:
Do we have the leaders needed to bring it to life?
Who’s It For?
Current, future, and potential group leaders.
What’s the Problem?
Developing leaders is a long, messy process, but it’s essential. Healthy leaders create healthy groups, fueling a thriving ministry.
What’s the Solution?
A pipeline of strong leaders who will lead thriving groups for years to come, with the ongoing support to stay effective and sustainable.

Are there men and women in your church who stand out as potential small group leaders? You see their character and heart for others, even if they haven’t stepped into leadership yet—or perhaps they don’t see themselves as leaders. These are the individuals you want to motivate, inspire, and encourage to take that next step into leading within your church community.
